Not My Will

Categories: Solo

On August 11, 2026, I was diagnosed with ALS. The news was deeply disheartening. After years of serving as a pastor and helping others through experiences like this, I suddenly found myself facing the same questions: Where was God’s love and care for me? Yet I knew from Scripture that He loves me and that, no matter what I face, His love continues. My thoughts turned to Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane in Mark 14:36, where He prayed, “Not my will, but Yours be done.” Later, I read Job 2:6, where Job tells his wife, “If I can accept the good things from God’s hand, why should I not accept the bad?” Those words struck my heart. As I wrote this song, I recognized the tension within me: I long for healing, but I also trust that God’s divine plan extends beyond what I experience physically here on earth. I long for His will and His presence in my life. That conflict—and the resolve that Christ is Lord and desires what is best for me—is where this song comes from. May God bless you as you listen.
