This song was inspired by Jesus’ words to Peter at the Last Supper in Luke 22:31-38. As I was thinking about being there. Being with Jesus in the final hours and to have Him say, “Satan has requested to sift you like wheat. But, I have prayed for you.” In fact the NASB says, “Satan has demanded to sift you like wheat.” What a terrifying thought. The imagery would terrify anyone. Peter’s response was to restate his loyalty. My mind went to to the thought of Jesus praying for me. I was humbled and encouraged. Following that I remembered how in Romans 8:27 the Holy Spirit promises to “intercede for God’s people.” I hope you find this encouraging to know that as you face difficult times that we have Jesus and the Holy Spirit praying for us. We have a wonderful Lord.
